What types of cancer does GRAIL Galleri detect?

Galleri looks for a signal shared by more than 50 cancer types. Detection varies by cancer type and stage.

Sensitivity is the share of people with cancer whose test detects a signal. The CCGA case-control study reported 51.5% sensitivity overall and 99.5% specificity (0.5% false positives among people without cancer). These are study results, not your personal probability of detection.

Galleri can miss cancer, especially at earlier stages.

Who is the Galleri test recommended for?

GRAIL recommends Galleri for adults with elevated cancer risk, such as people age 50 or older; a clinician should determine whether it fits your medical history. It is not recommended during pregnancy, at age 21 or younger, or during active cancer treatment, and symptoms should be evaluated by a clinician rather than waiting for screening.

What do Galleri test results mean?

~99%screen negative
No cancer signal detected

Continue routine screening.

No cancer-associated signal was found in this sample. Cancer can still be present, so keep recommended screening and discuss new symptoms with your clinician.

~1%of adults ages 50–79
Cancer signal detected

Arrange diagnostic follow-up.

A signal is not a cancer diagnosis. Your clinician uses the predicted Cancer Signal Origin (CSO)—the tissue or organ the signal likely came from—to plan further evaluation, which may include imaging or a biopsy. In the initial PATHFINDER 2 results, about 62% of people with a positive result had cancer confirmed after diagnostic evaluation.

Junction’s clinical team helps you interpret your result and the next steps.

Sources: GRAIL’s results guide and our evidence review. The 99%/1% estimates and 62% figure come from different study populations; the latter is from the initial PATHFINDER 2 analysis. These figures do not predict an individual’s result.
